Something I have been sitting with: Two sets of medications, one dosette box Not looking for advice so much as other people's experience.

The logistics of this are defeating me more than the medicine is.

I nearly did not ask because it sounds trivial written down, and it has been the most persistent difficulty of the last six months.

I would like practical detail rather than encouragement. What people actually do, in what order, and what goes wrong when they get it wrong.

I have been specific in the title on purpose. Two is what it is, and being vague about it has not helped me so far.

No hurry. I have a fortnight before I need to decide anything.

My own appointments come last, always, and this was the first thing in a decade I have organised for myself.

Lando, I have been where you are and I would rather say so than stay quiet.

What I found is that the logistics assume a person with a spare afternoon, and I have not had a spare afternoon since 2019.

I want to slow this down slightly. Every household described in a thread like this is real, and not one of those arrangements transfers whole to anybody else, which is why the detail matters more than the conclusion.

The exhaustion was already there before any of this. Working out what was new and what was simply caring took me a long time.

Wren — yes, and the bit that took me longest to accept was the next part.

My experience is that this is entirely doable while caring, and that it needs more planning than the guides assume.

I have stopped apologising for the length of time it takes me to reply to things. Everybody here understands.

Coming back to say we found a rhythm, that his care has been stable for a year, and that I have kept going, which two years ago I would not have predicted.

Reading Pam, I recognised more of that than I expected to.

Nobody has asked me how I am in about four years and this circle asks every week, which is most of why I am still here.

My respite arrangements took nine months to organise and are the reason I am still standing. Do start that conversation early.

I would gently say that if you are the only person holding everything, that is worth telling somebody clinical rather than absorbing.

I keep everything in one bag that travels with me, because I am rarely in the same place two nights running.

What I did not expect was how much better I have been at caring since my own energy improved. That is the argument that finally convinced me.

Somebody in this circle said that carers are the group most likely to describe themselves as fine, and I recognised myself immediately.

Picking up Idris’s point rather than starting a new one.

The appointments are the difficult logistics. Finding cover for an hour is harder than any of the medical side.

My sleep is broken for reasons that have nothing to do with this, and separating the tiredness has been the hardest analytical problem.

Gently disagreeing with Özlem, or rather adding the other half of it.

What I would say to somebody starting is to build it into something you already do, because anything additional will not survive a difficult month.

Building on what Özlem wrote rather than answering the original question.

Something that helped was telling one member of the family what I am doing, so that somebody other than me knows.

I have found the check-ins here more useful than the circles, because two lines on a Tuesday is what I can actually manage.

5

Gently noticing that we have drifted from the original question into a related one. Both are worth having and only one was asked.

Gwyth said something I want to sit with for a second.

Something practical: I got my collections aligned with the ones I already do for somebody else, and it saved me a journey a month.
