Starting a thread on this because it keeps coming up in ones and twos: Nausea disappeared at week nine and never came back

Something is going on with my body and I would like to know whether it is ordinary.

This started at the same time as two other things, which is why I cannot attribute it to anything with any confidence.

I have avoided asking about this for six weeks out of pure embarrassment, which is ridiculous given that this circle exists precisely for it.

I want to describe this accurately rather than politely, because the polite version is what I said at my last appointment and it got me nowhere.

Since I have put a figure in the title I should stand behind it: nine, exactly, and I checked before posting rather than after.

Thanks in advance. Even a one-line "yes, me too" would help more than you would think.

Room temperature turned out to matter more than anything else on the plate. Straight from the fridge and straight from the oven were both impossible for a month.

I found that eating something small before I felt hungry was the whole trick. Waiting until I wanted food meant it never arrived.

Mine lasted about five weeks and then more or less stopped. I still get a mild version for a day after a step up and I now expect it.

Gently: nobody in this circle is being dramatic. A symptom that is taking up your whole week is worth raising, and this circle will never tell you it is too small.

Fizzy water helped me and flat water did not, which makes no sense and was consistently true for about two months.

Gabe said something I want to sit with for a second.

I lived on the same four things for about six weeks and felt guilty about it, and my dietitian said, in effect, good, keep going, we will widen it later.

Building on what Renata wrote rather than answering the original question.

The texture thing surprised me. Anything with more than one texture in it was difficult and simple, uniform food was fine.

This is the honest version, and the honest version is harder to write.

I had to stop treating a day of not managing much as a failure. My body was doing something and I was busy grading it.

Coming back to what Orval wrote further up, because it is the bit I keep thinking about.

The pattern for mine was days two and three, every time, reliably. Once I knew that, I planned around it and it stopped being an ambush.

I raised it at my review having tracked it for three weeks and we changed one thing. It was a much shorter conversation than I had rehearsed.

Toast. Endless toast. Six weeks of toast and I was fine, and my bloods at the end of it were unremarkable.

What I did not expect was how much better I felt after eating, when eating was the last thing I wanted to do. That gap between wanting and helping was the hard bit.

Facilitator note: I am leaving this open rather than closing it, because the question has come round three times this year and this is the version I want people to find.

Coming back to say it lifted. Five weeks of genuinely difficult and then it went, and I have eaten normally for eighteen months since.
