Insulin resistance explained to me properly for the first time — putting it in its own thread so it does not get lost in the check-in.

Bringing this here rather than to the general circle because the specifics change the answer.

I have a specialist appointment in six weeks and I want to use it properly rather than spending it explaining background they already have.

What I cannot work out is which of the two stories a particular change belongs to, and I suspect nobody can tell me from the outside.

Not looking for interpretation of anything. Looking for what other people asked for and whether it helped.

I have found this circle more useful than any other resource, mostly because everybody here already knows the background and I do not have to explain it.

What changed for me was being taken seriously by one clinician, once, and everything since has been downstream of that appointment.

My experience of appointments improved enormously once I brought a written summary. Nine minutes is not enough time to retell fifteen years.

Holding a boundary kindly: we do not compare results in this circle. A couple of replies have edged that way and I am steering us back.

Nothing to add except that I am glad this thread exists.

Building on what Bodil wrote rather than answering the original question.

Somebody here pointed out that most of the general advice is written for people without this, and once I stopped trying to make it fit I did much better.

Mira said something I want to sit with for a second.

The thing nobody warned me about was that a returning cycle brings back everything that comes with it, and I had forgotten what that was like.

Whoever comes back after the appointment and says what happened closes a loop that would otherwise leave the next reader guessing. It is a small thing to write and it is not a small thing to find.

What worked for me practically was resistance work twice a week. Not for any aesthetic reason — the effect on how I felt was noticeable within two months.
