Starting a thread on this because it keeps coming up in ones and twos: My rash was an allergy to the plaster, not the drug

I have avoided asking about this for six weeks out of pure embarrassment.

I would like to hear timescales more than remedies. Knowing how long other people's lasted would turn this from an open-ended thing into a bounded one.

I have written down when it happens and how long it lasts, because I could not answer either of those questions when my GP asked and I felt foolish.

Squeamish subject, so I am going to be plain about it and get it over with. It has been going on for long enough now that I would like to know whether it is ordinary.

Thanks in advance. Even a one-line "yes, me too" would help more than you would think.

I found the anticipation harder than the symptom. Once I had had it twice and knew what it was, the third time barely registered.

Mine was almost entirely about timing. Moving when I did it by two days changed the shape of my week completely and cost nothing.

What I would ask is whether anything else changed in the same week. Mine turned out to be a completely unrelated thing that I had attributed to the medication for a month.

Yes to the burping. It is real, it is unbeautiful, and in my case it settled after about five weeks.

Mine did not settle and in the end I stopped, and that was the right decision for me. Both outcomes exist in this circle and neither is a failure.

Taavi — yes, and the bit that took me longest to accept was the next part.

Somebody here told me early on that the aim is to stay on treatment comfortably rather than to endure it, and that changed how quickly I raised things.

Speaking as a facilitator: a symptom that is frightening you is a reason to ask, regardless of whether it turns out to be anything. Nobody qualified will think you have wasted their time.
