Injection day timing and sleep quality — putting it in its own thread so it does not get lost in the check-in.

Squeamish subject, so I am going to be plain about it and get it over with.

I want to describe this accurately rather than politely, because the polite version is what I said at my last appointment and it got me nowhere.

What I cannot tell is whether this is the ordinary tax or the sort of thing that needs somebody today, and that distinction is the whole of my question.

No advice needed if you would rather not. Recognition is genuinely enough.

Naps helped me and made things worse for somebody I talk to weekly, so I am reluctant to recommend them. Worth trying and worth abandoning.

Ossian, I have been where you are and I would rather say so than stay quiet.

What made the difference for me was a fixed wake time rather than a fixed bedtime. Somebody here suggested it and it took about ten days to work.

I am going to steer us away from comparing severity. It has crept in over the last few replies and it does not help anybody who is currently in it.

I found the tiredness hardest to explain to other people. It is not the tiredness of a bad night, it is a different quality, and there is no good vocabulary for it.

Kiki said something I want to sit with for a second.

What I found was that eating something earlier in the evening changed my nights more than anything I did about sleep directly.

I read this twice. The second time was for the last paragraph.

The exhaustion is real and it is not laziness, and I spent a month calling it laziness before somebody here corrected me kindly.

My honest experience: my sleep is now noticeably better than it was before any of this, which was not something I expected or was aiming for.

I had assumed the fatigue was psychological and it turned out to be worth a set of bloods. Something unrelated came up and it was fixable.

Mine was much worse for the first three days after each step up and then fine. Once I saw that pattern in my notes I planned around it.

The thing I would raise with somebody qualified is fatigue that is not improving over months rather than weeks. Mine was, so I did, and it was worth it.

Picking up Norah’s point rather than starting a new one.

Sleep got better for me before it got worse. Two good months, then a strange stretch, then it settled at something new.

Toby has already said most of this and I want to add the one part that was different for me.

I was waking at three or four, wide awake, for about six weeks. It stopped as suddenly as it started and I never worked out why.

Mine correlated with hydration far more than I would have believed. Very dull, very consistent across three months of notes.

Something practical: I stopped scheduling anything on the evening of the day I do it. That one change took the pressure out of the whole week.

Read, understood, and glad you are here.

My prescriber asked about my sleep before anything else when I raised fatigue, which I thought was a diversion and turned out to be the whole answer.

Slowing this down for a moment. The question asked was whether this is ordinary. That is not the same as asking what to do about it and we have answered the second one.

Somebody here said to treat energy as a budget rather than a personal quality, and that single reframing changed how I planned my weeks.
