Something I have been sitting with: A pharmacist who rang round the state for me Not looking for advice so much as other people's experience.

Regional question, because I have read a great deal of advice that turns out to be true in one country only.

I am some distance from anywhere and every arrangement I have made is shaped by that, and most of what is written assumes otherwise.

The forms and the sequence are what I am stuck on rather than anything clinical, and the sequence appears to be local knowledge.

If you are in the same system, I would love to compare notes, even just to know I am not doing this wrong.

Coming back at two years to say it has been steady, that the supply problem passed, and that telehealth was the thing that made it workable.

Bronwen, I have been where you are and I would rather say so than stay quiet.

The listing criteria here are specific and published, and reading them properly answered questions I had been asking people for months.

I want to slow this down. Two people are describing two different systems and the advice from one will not transfer to the other.

What I found is that telehealth has been excellent here and it removed most of the practical difficulty for me.

My GP was the whole of my care and it has been entirely adequate, which is not what I had expected from the accounts online.

Something practical: the southern summer is my difficult season for storage and I plan around it rather than improvising.

Coming back to what Nyree wrote further up, because it is the bit I keep thinking about.

The distances are the thing. My nearest specialist is a flight away and everything I have arranged reflects that.

I would say ask about the authority process specifically, because it was straightforward once somebody explained the sequence.

Reading this at half past six with a cup of tea and nodding at every line.

What helped was building a buffer during the good periods, which meant the difficult stretch did not interrupt anything.

Building on what Ozzy wrote rather than answering the original question.

The bloods are done at a collection centre and sent on, which is efficient and took one conversation to set up.

Somebody in this circle here gave me the exact sequence of things to ask for, and it saved me two wasted appointments.

My honest experience is that this has been easier here than the online discussion suggested it would be.

Something worth knowing: my review interval was extendable given the distance, and it was granted the moment I explained.

This is why I read the boring weeks. Thank you for the boring weeks.

Picking up Tavita’s point rather than starting a new one.

The travel between islands and the timing of collections is a real planning problem and I have built a fortnight of slack into everything.

Reading Tavita, I recognised more of that than I expected to.

What I got wrong was assuming a shortage was permanent. It resolved in about five months and I nearly stopped in month two.

I would say get on good terms with one pharmacy. Mine has looked after me through two supply problems and one house move.

My experience of the shortage period was that the pharmacies communicated much better than any official source did.

Speaking as a facilitator: telephone and video reviews have come up in every regional thread this year and are still not offered unprompted in most places.

What helped most was a practice nurse who took the time to explain the whole pathway once, properly, at the start.
