Something I have been sitting with: How I moved my hard sessions away from injection day Not looking for advice so much as other people's experience.

Practical question, and possibly a silly one.

I have tried three arrangements and none of them has survived a difficult week, which suggests I am designing for good weeks.

The social side of this is harder for me than any of the logistics, and I have not found anywhere else where that is discussed practically.

If anybody has an arrangement that works and is willing to write it out, I would be very grateful.

What I would say is get the protein sorted before anything else. Everything I read agreed and I ignored it for a season.

My sessions are shorter and heavier now and that has worked better than the volume I used to do.

Stepping in to say that asking for help with logistics is not a smaller kind of asking. It is most of what makes this sustainable.

The recovery side was where I noticed it most. Same session, slower recovery, for about two months.

Adding a name to the list of people this helped.

What surprised me was how much better my joints felt, which had nothing to do with anything I was aiming at.

I had a period where I was clearly underfuelling without meaning to, and my coach spotted it before I did.

Nolan has already said most of this and I want to add the one part that was different for me.

Something that helped was eating on a schedule rather than on appetite, because appetite stopped being a reliable signal.

I kept lifting three times a week throughout and my numbers dipped for about six weeks and then came back.

Reading Clemmie, I recognised more of that than I expected to.

Something practical: I moved my training to the morning because my appetite is more reliable earlier and the fuelling became simple.

Building on what Pola wrote rather than answering the original question.

My rest days matter more than they used to and I have stopped treating them as optional.

What I found is that the first six weeks were the worst for performance and that everything after that has been ordinary.

Facilitator note: I am leaving this open through the holidays because it will be more relevant then than it is now.

Gently disagreeing with Edwyn, or rather adding the other half of it.

Somebody in this circle said that grip strength is the most honest measure and I have tracked mine ever since.
