A question rather than an update: Breakfast has become impossible and lunch is fine

Something is going on with my body and I would like to know whether it is ordinary.

What I cannot tell is whether this is the ordinary tax or the sort of thing that needs somebody today, and that distinction is the whole of my question.

Squeamish subject, so I am going to be plain about it and get it over with. It has been going on for long enough now that I would like to know whether it is ordinary.

The physical part is manageable. What is wearing me down is the constant low-level monitoring of it, and I would like to stop doing that.

Not after remedies particularly. Mostly I want to know whether this is ordinary and how long it went on for.

Mine was worst in the evening, which meant dinner became the hard meal. Moving the substantial part of my day earlier fixed most of it.

Dara — yes, and the bit that took me longest to accept was the next part.

Plain crackers in the bedside drawer sounds ridiculous and it is the single most useful thing anybody in this circle ever told me.

Reading Dara, I recognised more of that than I expected to.

I had to stop treating a day of not managing much as a failure. My body was doing something and I was busy grading it.

A standing thank-you to anybody who returns to a thread with the outcome. Threads that simply stop are the ones that leave the next person stranded, and one sentence months later prevents it.

Ginger did nothing for me and mint did a surprising amount, and I have watched other people here report exactly the opposite. It seems genuinely individual.

What got me through was very small amounts, very often, and not caring at all what they were. Nutrition can wait a fortnight; not eating anything cannot.

The texture thing surprised me. Anything with more than one texture in it was difficult and simple, uniform food was fine.

Viv said something I want to sit with for a second.

Please do not push through a whole day of nothing on principle. I did that twice and both times it made the following day considerably worse.

Marking that I am here, in case that counts for anything today.

I lived on the same four things for about six weeks and felt guilty about it, and my dietitian said, in effect, good, keep going, we will widen it later.

This is the honest version, and the honest version is harder to write.

Building on what Ilse wrote rather than answering the original question.

Fizzy water helped me and flat water did not, which makes no sense and was consistently true for about two months.

Gently disagreeing with Casper, or rather adding the other half of it.

The thing that changed it for me was a slower schedule agreed with my prescriber. Within a fortnight the eating side was manageable again.

I want to say gently that if the difficulty eating has started to feel like relief rather than a symptom, that is worth mentioning to somebody. It crept up on me and a member here noticed before I did.

Speaking plainly as a facilitator: none of this is medical advice, none of us is qualified to give any, and that limit is what makes the rest of what we do honest.

Mine lasted about five weeks and then more or less stopped. I still get a mild version for a day after a step up and I now expect it.
