Something I have been sitting with: Two sessions a week for two years beats a perfect plan abandoned in March Not looking for advice so much as other people's experience.

Anyone else navigating this? I feel as though every piece of advice I read was written for someone with a completely different week.

I would like to know what other people say when asked, because my current answer is too long and invites more questions.

What I am after is the version of this that works when nobody is helping, because that is my situation and most accounts assume otherwise.

The thing I have not been able to find anywhere is how people manage this when the week has no fixed shape at all.

The number in the title is the actual number: two sessions, not a round figure I reached for because it sounded about right.

I will come back and say what I settled on, in case it is useful to the next person asking this.

Protein first at each meal was what worked for me. Nothing more complicated than the order things went on the plate.

The advice that helped least was to eat more protein without any suggestion of how, when my appetite had gone.

Ondine has already said most of this and I want to add the one part that was different for me.

My grip strength has improved steadily and it is the only number I still track, because it is the one that means something to me.

Nothing here is a prescription for a body. The amount that suits you is a conversation with somebody who knows your situation.

Ren — yes, and the bit that took me longest to accept was the next part.

Something that helped was accepting that this is boring. I kept looking for something more interesting and there was nothing more interesting.

That is a kinder way of putting it than I have managed about myself.

Coming back at two years to say the twice a week held, the protein habit held, and they are the two things I would keep above all else.

What I found is that the evening is where mine falls short, because by then my appetite has gone and I am tired.

Gently disagreeing with Rohan, or rather adding the other half of it.

The list on the fridge idea came from this circle and it is the single most useful thing I have taken from anywhere.

My dietitian gave me a target and then, more usefully, gave me three ways to hit it that did not require me to want food.

I am pleased with this thread. Practical, kind, no instructions, no comparisons. That is the whole brief.

The limits of yoghurt became a running joke in my house. It is genuinely hard to get there on the things I actually want.
