A question rather than an update: How I got a referral moving after nine months

I have a letter in front of me and I do not know what it actually says.

This is the boring administrative kind of problem, which I gather is the kind that gets solved if you know the right sequence.

I have not asked about the cost side at any appointment because I was embarrassed, and I have now worked out that this was expensive.

I have put nine months in the title because that is the number I keep coming back to, and I would rather be specific than vague about it.

Any experience welcome, including the ones that did not work out. I would rather know what I am walking into.

What I would say is to build in far more slack than seems necessary. Everything takes longer here and something always goes wrong.
