Something I have been sitting with: When a side effect is your other medication, not this one Not looking for advice so much as other people's experience.

Squeamish subject, so I am going to be plain about it and get it over with.

I have had a fortnight of this and then three good days and then another fortnight, and the pattern is the bit I would most like to understand.

It is not severe. It is relentless, which turns out to be a different problem, and one I have found much harder to describe to anybody.

I will come back and say what my appointment produced, because I hate reading threads that stop before the answer.

Mine settled at about seven weeks and then lifted over three or four days. I cannot tell you what changed. I can tell you it changed.

Facilitator note: everything described here is a matter for you and whoever prescribes for you. We are here for the company and for the vocabulary.

Tomás, thank you for that. It gives me somewhere to start from.

What helped me was writing down the time of day it happened. The pattern was completely invisible to me until it was on paper, and then it was obvious.

Two things that helped, neither of them clever: smaller amounts more often, and drinking considerably more than felt necessary.

Héloïse — yes, and the bit that took me longest to accept was the next part.

Mine got worse before it got better, which I wish somebody had told me. About ten days of worse, then a fortnight of gradually less, then nothing.

I want to offer the boring outcome for balance: mine was mild, it lasted a month, and it went. Not every account here needs to be dramatic.

The phrase that unlocked my appointment was asking what specifically she wanted me to watch for. It moved us from reassurance to a plan in about thirty seconds.

Reading Perrin, I recognised more of that than I expected to.

Something I only worked out late: two mild things at once felt much worse than either would have on its own, and I kept trying to find a single cause.

Quietly agreeing from the other side of the country.

What Ravi described happened to me too, in a slightly different order.

Whatever it is, you are not being dramatic. Half the reason people end up frightened at midnight is that they talked themselves out of asking at four in the afternoon.

What Nadir described happened to me too, in a slightly different order.

My prescriber slowed my schedule down and most of it resolved within a month. I am not suggesting that for you. I am saying the conversation exists.

I keep a two-line note every day and it is the only reason I can answer questions about my own symptoms. Worth starting even now, mid-way through.

The thing that made mine manageable was accepting that a bad three days did not mean a bad month. I was extrapolating from every rough patch.

Adding this thread to the circle's standing resources, because it is the clearest account of this we have and the question comes back every few months.

I would take that to a clinician rather than to us, and I would do it this week — not because it is definitely something, but because it is much easier to rule out than to sit with.
