Something I have been sitting with: I wanted to quit in month five and I am glad I did not Not looking for advice so much as other people's experience.

Writing this partly to ask and partly because writing it down usually tells me what I think.

My honest position is that I do not know whether to change something or wait, and I have been going round that question for three weeks without getting anywhere.

I want to write this down while I am still in it, because I have noticed that I rewrite these stages afterwards into something more sensible than they were.

My experience of this stage has not matched any account I have read, which I assume means the accounts are tidier than the reality rather than that something is wrong.

Since I have put a figure in the title I should stand behind it: five, exactly, and I checked before posting rather than after.

Anyway. Thank you for reading this far. Any experience of this stage gratefully received, and I will come back and say what happened.

What got me through was measuring things that were not the scale. Stairs, sleep, how far I could walk before I wanted to stop. All of those were moving while the number was not.

Perrine has already said most of this and I want to add the one part that was different for me.

Mine lasted nineteen weeks. I want to say that plainly because when I was in mine, every account I found described eight and I thought I was broken.

Before anyone offers a schedule: what has been described here is a conversation for a prescriber rather than a thread. I am going to be firm about that, kindly.

Nothing to add except that I am glad this thread exists.

Ada, thank you for that. It gives me somewhere to start from.

The second flat stretch was much easier than the first, purely because I had already survived one and knew the shape of it.

My prescriber was completely unbothered by mine, which annoyed me at the time and turned out to be the correct response. She said bodies do this and asked me to come back in eight weeks.

I am going to close the loop on this one rather than let it drift. Where the person who opened a thread comes back with an update, that is the post I would least want a later reader to miss.

I nearly stopped during mine, and the only reason I did not was that I had promised to come to a circle call on the Thursday and did not want to arrive having quit on the Tuesday.
