Something I have been sitting with: Winter deliveries at minus thirty Not looking for advice so much as other people's experience.

Anyone else here in my part of the world? I would like to compare notes.

What I want to know is what to ask for by name, because a general request has got me nowhere three times.

Supply where I am has been unpredictable and I would like to know what other people locally have been told.

I have moved and everything that was arranged has had to be arranged again, and I would like to know what I have forgotten.

Yes, thirty. I know how that reads written down, and it is the number, so it is going in the title where people can see it.

I will come back and update with actual timings, because published times and real times are not the same thing.

The distances here mean an appointment is a half-day at minimum, and consolidating everything into fewer visits was the fix.

If you come back and say how long it actually took where you are, that is the most useful thing anybody in this circle can contribute. Nobody publishes those figures; we only have each other's.

My experience of the care itself has been good and the coverage side has been the entire difficulty.

What I got wrong was assuming the first refusal was the plan's final position. It was a first pass and it was reversed.

The supply has been reliable where I am, and my pharmacy has told me in advance the two times it was going to be tight.

Something practical: I have the plan's reference number and the pharmacy's direct line saved, because the general line takes forty minutes.

What Marguerite described happened to me too, in a slightly different order.

My prescriber wrote a supporting note that addressed the plan's criteria point by point, and that is what got the approval.

What surprised me was how much variation there is between pharmacies on price, even with coverage, and it was worth one afternoon to check.

My private plan covered part of it and the criteria were in a document I had never read until somebody here suggested asking for it.

What helped was a pharmacist who knew the special authority process well and effectively filled the form in with my doctor.

My reviews are with a nurse practitioner and the care has been consistently good and much easier to access than a physician appointment.

Picking up Bass’s point rather than starting a new one.

Something worth knowing: my province's formulary is published and searchable, and reading it answered questions nobody would answer on the phone.
