Something I have been sitting with: Side effects changed after switching and I did not expect that Not looking for advice so much as other people's experience.

Money post. No apologies, this circle is for it.

I have a letter in front of me and I genuinely cannot tell what it is saying, which I suspect is not entirely accidental.

I have been refused and I would like to appeal properly rather than emotionally, because the emotional version is what I sent last time.

I have not asked about the cost side at any appointment because I was embarrassed, and I have now worked out that this was expensive.

Thank you for reading. I know money posts are uncomfortable and I would rather be uncomfortable than stuck.

The thing I would flag is that a number that looks the same may not mean the same thing, and checking that is the whole job.

What I found is that the devices were different enough that the practical routine had to be relearned, which nobody had mentioned.

What helped was doing the switch in a quiet week rather than around anything else, so that anything unexpected had room.

Ruaridh — yes, and the bit that took me longest to accept was the next part.

My switch was for supply reasons rather than choice and it happened faster than I would have liked, which is where the risk of error sits.

I would say to anybody about to switch: get the new instructions in writing and read them back to somebody.

Maeve has already said most of this and I want to add the one part that was different for me.

Concentrations differ and that is exactly where people get caught. Nothing carried over from my previous arrangement, not a single number.

Coming back to say the switch went fine, that it took about six weeks to feel routine, and that the double-check is what made it safe.

What I would say is do not assume anything transfers. Treat it as a completely new start with a completely new conversation.

Picking up Dev’s point rather than starting a new one.

The units on the two were not comparable and I had spent an evening doing arithmetic that turned out to be meaningless.

A standing reminder rather than a correction of anybody: a good deal of practical advice on this subject assumes a settled address, a bank account and a phone that stays the same. Several members here have none of those, and the advice has to work without them.
