A question rather than an update: Two switches in a year and a lesson each time

Money post. No apologies, this circle is for it.

I would like to know whether it is worth appealing, and specifically what changed for the people whose appeals succeeded.

I have been quietly not mentioning the cost at home and that is now its own problem, separate from the money itself.

I have been refused and I would like to appeal properly rather than emotionally, because the emotional version is what I sent last time.

Since I have put a figure in the title I should stand behind it: two, exactly, and I checked before posting rather than after.

Thank you for reading. I know money posts are uncomfortable and I would rather be uncomfortable than stuck.

What helped was doing the switch in a quiet week rather than around anything else, so that anything unexpected had room.

What Orlaith described happened to me too, in a slightly different order.

My switch was for supply reasons rather than choice and it happened faster than I would have liked, which is where the risk of error sits.

Something I got right was asking my pharmacist to talk me through the new one properly rather than reading the leaflet at home.

Noticing the drift into what things cost elsewhere, which varies enormously and is not always transferable. Worth flagging before somebody plans on it.

Something worth knowing: my review schedule changed with the switch and I nearly missed an appointment as a result.

I would say to anybody about to switch: get the new instructions in writing and read them back to somebody.

Reading Sunniva, I recognised more of that than I expected to.

I had a proper appointment specifically about the switch rather than folding it into a routine review, and that was the right call.

The units on the two were not comparable and I had spent an evening doing arithmetic that turned out to be meaningless.

The question I asked that mattered most was whether the number I had been given was in the same units as before. It was not.

Coming back to say the switch went fine, that it took about six weeks to feel routine, and that the double-check is what made it safe.

Concentrations differ and that is exactly where people get caught. Nothing carried over from my previous arrangement, not a single number.

Dev — yes, and the bit that took me longest to accept was the next part.

My pharmacist caught the error before I did and I have thought about that a great deal since. Ten minutes at a counter.

What I would say is do not assume anything transfers. Treat it as a completely new start with a completely new conversation.
