A question rather than an update: When did you stop thinking about it every day

Writing this partly to ask and partly because writing it down usually tells me what I think.

The practical side has settled and the rest of it has not, and I would like to hear how other people at this stage handled the part that is not practical.

I have written down what has happened, in order, because I find that more useful than my own summary of it. The summary always sounds either better or worse than the weeks actually were.

The thing that has surprised me most about this stage is how much of it is about other people rather than about me.

Not looking for a plan. Just company, and whatever anybody found at the same stage.

My maintenance has had two wobbles in it, both around big life events, both of which passed. I mention them because a smooth account would be a dishonest one.

What I did not anticipate was becoming a person other members ask questions of. I still feel like I am making it up, and apparently that never entirely stops.

Two years in and the only thing I actively do now is a note in my phone once a week and a review once a year. Everything else has become automatic.

I am pleased with how this went and I want to say so. Not every thread needs a facilitator and this one mostly did not.

I would say to anybody approaching this stage: decide what you want your ordinary week to look like, because nothing is going to arrange it for you once the novelty ends.

Benedikt said something I want to sit with for a second.

Maintenance is where the non-scale things came into their own for me. All the things I noticed in year one turned out to be the things that stayed.

Building on what Runa wrote rather than answering the original question.

I reduced, held, and then reduced again eight months later, both times slowly and both times after a proper conversation. Neither move was dramatic and both were fine.

The conversation I found hardest in maintenance was about how long. My prescriber's answer was that we would keep reviewing it, which is honest and was not what I wanted.

Thank you all for the care in here. When somebody arrives frightened, what this circle aims to hand back is experience rather than instruction, and that distinction is the whole reason it exists.

Something that helped: I decided to keep journalling weekly in maintenance even when there was nothing to say. Those entries are how I noticed a slow change I would otherwise have missed.
