Bone health, strength training and a loss phase — putting it in its own thread so it does not get lost in the check-in.

I have had this diagnosis for a long time and none of the general advice quite fits me.

My history means the standard advice is not safe for me to follow, and I would like to hear from people whose history looks like mine.

This has been dismissed as being part of my condition for years and I have started to wonder whether that was ever properly checked.

Not looking for interpretation of anything. Looking for what other people asked for and whether it helped.

What helped was writing everything down and then reviewing it with somebody who knew about both, because separately neither clinician could see the pattern.

Gently noticing that we have three people describing three different clinical arrangements, all of which are real, none of which transfers automatically to anybody else.

What Ada described happened to me too, in a slightly different order.

I would say push for a proper conversation about the interaction rather than two separate consultations that never meet.

The hot flushes were unrelated in my case, as it turned out, and finding that out took a specialist appointment and a lot of patience.

Nothing to add except that I am glad this thread exists.

My bone health conversation happened because I asked for it, not because it was offered, and I would encourage anybody here to ask.

What I found is that the general advice is written for a body ten years younger, and adapting it took a dietitian who understood the stage I am at.

Building on what Bettina wrote rather than answering the original question.

I had a period of very poor sleep that I assumed was one thing, and it was the other, and correcting it made everything else more manageable.

Coming back to what Birdie wrote further up, because it is the bit I keep thinking about.

Something practical: I keep two columns in my notes so that each thing gets recorded against its own story rather than in one undifferentiated list.

The stage I am at came with a lot of unsolicited opinion from other people, and this circle has been notably free of that.

I would say the strength work is the thing I would not give up. Everything else has been adjusted at some point; that has been constant.

Mine required patience more than anything else. Nothing was quick, everything took a season, and it has all landed somewhere good.

What I did not anticipate was how much better I would feel once somebody simply acknowledged that three things at once is genuinely complicated.

Wells said something I want to sit with for a second.

Nothing here is medical advice, and this is a subject where the interactions really do need somebody qualified looking at the whole of you.

What Leni described happened to me too, in a slightly different order.

I found this circle because I could not find anybody talking about both at once, and it is still the only place I have found where people do.

Recognition rather than advice, if that is any use at all.

Facilitator note: this circle exists because the general advice does not fit, and I would rather we said what does not fit than tried to make it fit.

What I got wrong was changing several things in the same month. It took me another four months to work out which had helped.
