Something I have been sitting with: Patches, gel, and absorption questions Not looking for advice so much as other people's experience.

I have had this diagnosis for a long time and none of the general advice quite fits me.

What I cannot work out is which of the two stories a particular change belongs to, and I suspect nobody can tell me from the outside.

My history means the standard advice is not safe for me to follow, and I would like to hear from people whose history looks like mine.

Not looking for interpretation of anything. Looking for what other people asked for and whether it helped.

Something practical: I keep two columns in my notes so that each thing gets recorded against its own story rather than in one undifferentiated list.

The stage I am at came with a lot of unsolicited opinion from other people, and this circle has been notably free of that.

What I got wrong was changing several things in the same month. It took me another four months to work out which had helped.

I want to slow this down. Several people here have the same diagnosis and quite different pictures, which is ordinary and is why the specifics change the answer.

Picking up Ada’s point rather than starting a new one.

The night sweats and the sleep disruption were the things that wore me down, and neither of them was the thing I had gone in about.

I found this circle because I could not find anybody talking about both at once, and it is still the only place I have found where people do.

What surprised me was how much of my long-standing experience of hunger changed, and how much of it I had assumed was simply my character.

Sitting with you on this one.

Holly said something I want to sit with for a second.

What helped was writing everything down and then reviewing it with somebody who knew about both, because separately neither clinician could see the pattern.

My sleep, my mood and my appetite all changed in the same six months and I attributed all of it to the wrong cause for a while.

My specialist was clear that the evidence on the combination is thinner than either subject separately, and I appreciated the honesty enormously.

This is the honest version, and the honest version is harder to write.

Building on what Hannah wrote rather than answering the original question.

I would say the strength work is the thing I would not give up. Everything else has been adjusted at some point; that has been constant.

Mine required patience more than anything else. Nothing was quick, everything took a season, and it has all landed somewhere good.

My records were spread across three services and putting them in one document myself made every appointment since more productive.

Nyree has already said most of this and I want to add the one part that was different for me.

What I did not anticipate was how much better I would feel once somebody simply acknowledged that three things at once is genuinely complicated.

I would gently say do not accept everything being attributed to your age. Mine was, twice, and both times something specific was found when somebody looked.

I want to say plainly that nothing in this circle is medical advice, and with a long-standing diagnosis that matters more rather than less.

That is a very clear way of putting something I have never been able to put clearly.
