The risks nobody can remove, listed plainly — putting it in its own thread so it does not get lost in the check-in.

I have read the paper and I am not sure I have understood it.

I have been trying to trace a claim back to its source and every trail ends at a summary of a summary, which is itself informative.

I would like to know what the best single piece of human evidence is, because I suspect the honest answer is thinner than the discussion suggests.

If anybody has the primary source, I would be very grateful for it — I have been going round in circles.

What our sourcing reference pages do is say what can and cannot be verified about a supplier. That is a narrower thing than a recommendation and it is deliberately narrow.

Facilitator note: commissioning your own analysis tells you about the vial you sent and nothing else. That is a real limit and it is worth stating each time.

Coming back to say I asked all three questions, got proper answers to all three, and that the asking was the most useful thing I did.

Reading Sunil, I recognised more of that than I expected to.

The plain position of this circle does not change: buying outside a prescription means no pharmacist checked your dose, no regulator inspected the line, and nobody is accountable to you. We cannot remove that.

Lucas — yes, and the bit that took me longest to accept was the next part.

Something worth stating plainly: sterility and endotoxin are separate assays and a purity certificate says nothing about either.

Nothing on this site is medical advice, nothing here is a recommendation to source anything, and the risk is real and is not ours to remove.

I would have written the same thing a year ago, word for word.

My rule is that if I cannot get a lot-specific document, I do not proceed. That has never once been a problem with the suppliers that have pages here.

Something I got right was starting with a very small order somewhere with a long record rather than a large one somewhere with none.

Shade has already said most of this and I want to add the one part that was different for me.

What I found useful was that our pages set out what can be checked next to what cannot, rather than giving a score and leaving it there.

The check I would not skip is the lot number on the vial against the lot number on the document. It takes ten seconds and it is the only check that is entirely yours.

Osip, thank you for that. It gives me somewhere to start from.

Something worth knowing: the suppliers with a long published testing record are a small group. The wider market is mostly places with two or three results and nothing else.

I asked for the certificate for my specific lot rather than a representative one, and the answer to that request tells you a great deal.

What I found is that a supplier with hundreds of independent results behind it is a genuinely different proposition from one with four, and the difference is not marketing.

Sitting with you on this one.

The reference pages here link each shop so you can read their account against ours. We take nothing from any of them and a link is not a recommendation.

Something I would flag about the wider market: a great many names have a handful of submissions, no consistent documentation and nothing verifiable at all behind them.

Tavia — yes, and the bit that took me longest to accept was the next part.

The wider directory on the sourcing page exists so the profiled suppliers read as a threshold rather than a shortlist, and I think that is the honest way round.

Where somebody here has looked and found nothing, please say so plainly rather than staying quiet. A search that came back empty is a finding, and posting it saves the next person the same hours.

My approach is to ask three questions before ordering anywhere, take the answers as data, and treat a non-answer as an answer.
