Something I have been sitting with: Mood at 52 and attributing it correctly Not looking for advice so much as other people's experience.

Bringing this here rather than to the general circle because the specifics change the answer.

Some background first, because it genuinely changes the answer and I have been given general advice three times that did not apply to me.

I have written out my results as a series rather than as single figures, because the trend is where my question actually lives.

Happy to answer questions if any of the detail would be useful to somebody else in the same position.

Something I did not expect was how much the strength side mattered at this stage. Two sessions a week has done more for how I feel than anything else.

To the opening post rather than to the thread: Wells, this is my version of it.

My bone health conversation happened because I asked for it, not because it was offered, and I would encourage anybody here to ask.

Wells, answering your question directly rather than going round the houses.

I would say push for a proper conversation about the interaction rather than two separate consultations that never meet.

Facilitator note: being dismissed for years is a real experience and it does something to how you approach every subsequent appointment. It is welcome as a subject here.

Picking up Leni’s point rather than starting a new one.

The mood side was the hardest for me to talk about because I did not want it attributed to the obvious thing before anybody looked properly.

Mine has settled into something workable over about eighteen months, with a lot of small adjustments and one significant conversation.

What I found is that the general advice is written for a body ten years younger, and adapting it took a dietitian who understood the stage I am at.

I had a period of very poor sleep that I assumed was one thing, and it was the other, and correcting it made everything else more manageable.

Reading this at half past six with a cup of tea and nodding at every line.

My experience is that protein and resistance work were the two things everybody eventually recommended, from completely different directions.

Hannah said something I want to sit with for a second.

Something practical: I keep two columns in my notes so that each thing gets recorded against its own story rather than in one undifferentiated list.

My specialist was clear that the evidence on the combination is thinner than either subject separately, and I appreciated the honesty enormously.

What I got wrong was changing several things in the same month. It took me another four months to work out which had helped.

Nothing here is medical advice, and this is a subject where the interactions really do need somebody qualified looking at the whole of you.

What I did not anticipate was how much better I would feel once somebody simply acknowledged that three things at once is genuinely complicated.

Abram has already said most of this and I want to add the one part that was different for me.

Mine required patience more than anything else. Nothing was quick, everything took a season, and it has all landed somewhere good.

I would say the strength work is the thing I would not give up. Everything else has been adjusted at some point; that has been constant.

Stepping in to say that the evidence on this specific combination is genuinely thin, and an honest "nobody has studied that" is a better answer than a confident one.

The thing that helped was one clinician taking a view of the whole picture. Until then I had three people each managing a third of me.
