The alarm-based system my occupational therapist suggested Writing it down partly to work out what I actually think.

This is a difficult one to write and I have deleted it twice.

I do not have a question exactly. I have a thing I have noticed about myself and no idea whether it is worth mentioning to anybody.

I am aware this may be about something older than any of this, and that is part of what I am trying to work out by writing it down.

I do not know how to end this properly, so I am just going to stop here and press the button.

The thing I could not do was notice a symptom in the moment. I could only notice it in retrospect from notes, so notes became essential.

Facilitator note: if any of this has landed close to home while you were reading, our support resources page lists the kinds of service worth finding. No obligation and no drama.

What I got wrong was assuming I would remember. I do not remember. Everything that works for me is written down or automated.

Coming back to what Bryn M wrote further up, because it is the bit I keep thinking about.

Somebody in this circle described a body that does not send clear signals, and it was the first time I had seen that written down anywhere.

Something I did not expect: my safe foods stopped being safe for a while, which was much more destabilising than the medical side of things.

Gently disagreeing with Gwilym, or rather adding the other half of it.

I set four alarms and it is not excessive, it is what makes this possible, and I have stopped feeling odd about it.

My ADHD medication and everything else needed a proper look at together, and a pharmacist did that better than either prescriber had.

I had a very difficult fortnight when my routine broke for an unrelated reason, and rebuilding it took longer than I expected.

What worked was external signals. Timers, notes, a visible chart, my partner asking a specific question at a specific time.

Grateful you posted rather than kept it to yourself.

I am pleased with the pace of this thread. Nobody has rushed to fix anything and that restraint is the skill this circle asks for.

What Kiki described happened to me too, in a slightly different order.

Coming back two years on to say the system held, that it is elaborate and it works, and that I no longer apologise for how elaborate it is.
