A relationship that ended and this was part of it — putting it in its own thread so it does not get lost in the check-in.

Anyone else navigating this? I feel as though every piece of advice I read was written for someone with a completely different week.

I nearly did not ask because it sounds trivial written down, and it has been the most persistent difficulty of the last six months.

The thing I have not been able to find anywhere is how people manage this when the week has no fixed shape at all.

Sorry for the length. The logistics take longer to describe than they do to do.

My family's reaction was the hardest part and I have had to accept that some of them are not going to come round.

What I would say is that telling people is a separate decision from doing it, and you can take as long as you want over the first.

My sister started too, six months after me, and it has been unexpectedly lovely to have somebody in the house who understands.

Facilitator note: the guides cover the practical side of this reasonably well, and what this thread has that they do not is somebody's actual Tuesday.

My partner was frightened for me, which came out as disapproval, and it took a long time to hear it as the first thing.

I would have written the same thing a year ago, word for word.

Coming back to what Wren wrote further up, because it is the bit I keep thinking about.

Something I did not expect was how much of our relationship had been organised around food, and how much we had to rebuild.

He does the injection, which was his idea, and it turned out to be a way for him to be part of something he had felt excluded from.

Coming back to say we are fine, that it took about eighteen months, and that the conversation I dreaded most was the one that fixed it.

Nikita has already said most of this and I want to add the one part that was different for me.

My body changed how it works and the household did not get a memo. Working that out took about a year of small friction.

My partner came to a family event with a prepared subject change and deployed it three times, and it was the kindest thing.

Adding a name to the list of people this helped.

I would say pick one person to be honest with completely. Mine was my brother and having one person who knows everything has been enough.

Ozren said something I want to sit with for a second.

The friction in our house was almost entirely about the changed evening routine rather than about anything medical.

Noticing that the thread has answered the question and then kept going, which is fine, and I want the answer not to get buried.

Coming back to what Bess wrote further up, because it is the bit I keep thinking about.

We used to eat together in a particular way and that changed, and neither of us said anything about it for months.
