Friends asking me to share and how I said no

I asked the university health service and they were far more helpful than I had assumed they would be. Worth trying before assuming.

The address problem was mine. Moving three times in two years meant every arrangement had to be rebuilt each time.

Coming back at the end of my second year to say I managed it, it was tight throughout, and it was entirely possible.

Doing this without money is a completely different exercise and most of what is written assumes a car, a fridge and a stable address.

What helped most was one member here who had done this on a similar budget and simply told me the practical order to do things in.

I would encourage anybody here to write down what things actually cost over a year. Mine was less than I had feared and knowing was worth a lot.

I have found the check-ins here better than the circles for me, because two lines fit in a day that has no room in it.

My deadlines and my difficult weeks collided once and I had to be honest with a tutor, which was frightening and completely fine.

The thing I underestimated was how much energy the logistics take when you have no slack in your week at all.

I found that being organised was the substitute for being able to throw money at problems, and it worked most of the time.
