Starting a thread on this because it keeps coming up in ones and twos: Hong Kong: availability fine, information thin

Regional question, because I have read a great deal of advice that turns out to be true in one country only.

The pathway where I am appears to be different from every account I have read, and I would like to know whether that is the area or me.

I am some distance from anywhere and every arrangement I have made is shaped by that, and most of what is written assumes otherwise.

Thank you for reading. Please do say where you are when you reply — it changes what the answer means.

The language of the documentation was a real barrier and asking for a written summary in my own language was the fix.

Speaking as a facilitator: telephone and video reviews have come up in every regional thread this year and are still not offered unprompted in most places.

Pip, I have been where you are and I would rather say so than stay quiet.

Something practical: the storage question is much harder in this climate and it has shaped every arrangement I have made.

I found a specialist who had seen this many times, which took eight months of asking, and it changed everything.

Thank you. Genuinely.

What helped was a pharmacist who spoke to my specialist directly rather than everything going through me.

My reviews are three-monthly, which is more frequent than most accounts here, and I have found that reassuring rather than burdensome.

Something worth knowing: the availability where I am has been steady, and I understand that varies enormously across the region.

Coming back to what Sable wrote further up, because it is the bit I keep thinking about.

My honest report is that the care has been excellent and expensive, and I have no route to make it less expensive.

I found the family and social side considerably harder here than the medical side, for reasons that would take a page to explain.

Same here, and I am glad you said it first.

Facilitator note: a difference between two areas is not a failure of anybody's account. Both people are describing something real.

What I would flag is that the advice online about storage assumes a temperate climate and it is not adequate for mine.
