What my CPN suggested about monitoring

What my CPN suggested about monitoring Writing it down partly to work out what I actually think.

Not asking anyone to fix this. Mostly saying it out loud somewhere it will be read kindly.

The thing I keep coming back to is that I expected to feel one way and I feel another, and the gap between those is what I want to talk about.

I have been sitting on this for a month and it has not got smaller, which I gather is how these things usually go.

What I want is company rather than an answer, and I have learned that this circle is one of the few places where asking for that is not strange.

If you have felt anything like this, I would like to know. If you have not, that is worth knowing too.

Flat rather than sad was the closest I could get to describing mine, and it took me two months to find a clinician who understood that distinction.

Nazneen — yes, and the bit that took me longest to accept was the next part.

Coming back to say I am better. It took two clinicians, one medication review and a very patient friend, and it took about eight months.

Reading Nazneen, I recognised more of that than I expected to.

Nothing here is medical advice and on this subject that matters. If you are struggling, please talk to somebody qualified, and our support resources page lists the kinds of service worth finding.

Facilitator note: this is a circle for saying things out loud, and there is no obligation on anybody to act on what they say here.

What Bel described happened to me too, in a slightly different order.

The routine came apart first for me and the mood followed, and my therapist thought that order was informative rather than incidental.

My other medication needed reviewing and a pharmacist spotted something two doctors had not. Do have the interactions conversation properly.

What I would say is that a change in mood is worth reporting even if you cannot attribute it, and especially if you cannot attribute it.

I told my GP later than I should have. Please do not do what I did. The conversation was much easier than the four months of not having it.

I would have written the same thing a year ago, word for word.

What helped was telling one person honestly rather than four people partially. The partial versions were exhausting and got me nothing.

Somebody here said that a hard week does not need a cause to be legitimate, and I have carried that around for two years.

Reading Kai, I recognised more of that than I expected to.

What worked for me was keeping the small structures going even when they felt pointless. Getting dressed, going outside, writing two lines.

Gently disagreeing with Marguerite, or rather adding the other half of it.

My experience is that this is discussed far too little and I am grateful this circle exists rather than it being folded into a general one.

I found it useful to separate what I could raise with a prescriber from what belonged in therapy, because I had been taking everything to the wrong door.

I am going to name that this thread has drifted into comparison. That happens without anybody intending it and it does not help. Back to the person who asked, please.

I had a difficult autumn that had nothing to do with any of this, and disentangling that was most of the work of my second year.
