A question rather than an update: Anxiety about the medication itself, not from it

I have been sitting on this for a month.

I am not in crisis and I do not want anybody worried. I am flat, and I have been flat for longer than I would like, and I am naming it here first.

I have read a great deal about the physical side of this and almost nothing about the part I am actually struggling with.

No advice needed. Company would be welcome and anything else is a bonus.

Coming back to say I am better. It took two clinicians, one medication review and a very patient friend, and it took about eight months.

Flat rather than sad was the closest I could get to describing mine, and it took me two months to find a clinician who understood that distinction.

Speaking as a facilitator: what has been described here belongs with somebody qualified rather than in a thread, and I would rather say that plainly than let us be reassuring.

Abram has already said most of this and I want to add the one part that was different for me.

What I would say is that a change in mood is worth reporting even if you cannot attribute it, and especially if you cannot attribute it.

My other medication needed reviewing and a pharmacist spotted something two doctors had not. Do have the interactions conversation properly.

Agreed, and I have nothing to add to it.

The thing I would flag is anhedonia specifically. Low mood gets asked about; not enjoying anything is a different report and worth naming.

I had to accept that some of this was seasonal and would have happened regardless, and that acceptance stopped me looking for a cause that was not there.

Somebody here said that a hard week does not need a cause to be legitimate, and I have carried that around for two years.

Izzy has already said most of this and I want to add the one part that was different for me.

What worked for me was keeping the small structures going even when they felt pointless. Getting dressed, going outside, writing two lines.

I told my GP later than I should have. Please do not do what I did. The conversation was much easier than the four months of not having it.

Gently disagreeing with Bess, or rather adding the other half of it.

The routine came apart first for me and the mood followed, and my therapist thought that order was informative rather than incidental.

Bramwell said something I want to sit with for a second.

I had a difficult autumn that had nothing to do with any of this, and disentangling that was most of the work of my second year.

Something worth knowing: my appetite change and my mood change moved together and it took a long time to work out which was leading.

I found it useful to separate what I could raise with a prescriber from what belonged in therapy, because I had been taking everything to the wrong door.

My experience is that this is discussed far too little and I am grateful this circle exists rather than it being folded into a general one.

Noticing that the thread has stayed with feeling rather than sliding into logistics, which is right for this circle and takes discipline.

Read, understood, and glad you are here.
