A question rather than an update: Two weeks of my mother-in-law's cooking

Practical question, and possibly a silly one.

Every piece of advice I read appears to have been written for somebody with a completely different week from mine, so I am asking people whose weeks look like this.

I nearly did not ask because it sounds trivial written down, and it has been the most persistent difficulty of the last six months.

The arrangements are the hard bit for me. Nothing medical has been difficult; the organising has been relentless.

To be precise about it, since I have put it in the title: two weeks. I counted rather than guessed, because a guess would have been kinder to me.

Thank you. This circle has solved four practical problems for me already and I am hoping for a fifth.

Something practical: a photograph of everything, including the label, on my phone. Costs nothing and has been useful twice.

Two things, both boring. Nobody here can tell you what to do about your week. And describing your own week is genuinely useful to somebody planning theirs.

The thing that made mine easy was doing it before the trip so that the whole holiday was clear. Simple, and I did not think of it for two years.

I found holidays hard for reasons that had nothing to do with logistics. Other people's meals, other people's schedules, and no routine at all.

Ferry travel is a different problem again because of the time and the temperature, and I have found the cool bag margin much tighter.

Picking up Minnie’s point rather than starting a new one.

What I would flag is the return journey. I plan the outbound obsessively and had a difficult time on a delayed flight home.

I had a delay of eleven hours and my cool bag held, and I only knew it would because I had tested it at home first.

Bracken — yes, and the bit that took me longest to accept was the next part.

What surprised me was how many people at security had clearly seen it many times before. There was no curiosity at all.
