A question rather than an update: What security actually said in six different airports

Practical question, and possibly a silly one.

Every piece of advice I read appears to have been written for somebody with a completely different week from mine, so I am asking people whose weeks look like this.

I have worked out a system that mostly holds and there is one part of it that keeps failing, and I would like to hear how other people solved that part.

The arrangements are the hard bit for me. Nothing medical has been difficult; the organising has been relentless.

Since I have put a figure in the title I should stand behind it: six, exactly, and I checked before posting rather than after.

Thank you. This circle has solved four practical problems for me already and I am hoping for a fifth.

What surprised me was how many people at security had clearly seen it many times before. There was no curiosity at all.

Somebody here suggested keeping everything in a single labelled pouch so that a bag search takes thirty seconds. Excellent advice.

Stepping in to say what happens here when somebody describes a very tight situation: they get answered without a trace of judgement. That is not luck, it is the habit of the room, and it is worth protecting.

Coming back to what Duncan wrote further up, because it is the bit I keep thinking about.

My rule now is that everything travels with me, nothing gets checked, and I have a spare of anything small enough to duplicate.

Time zones were the puzzle. I shifted mine gradually over the week before rather than trying to solve it on arrival.

Gently disagreeing with Izolda, or rather adding the other half of it.

The hotel fridge is the thing to check before you book. Mine was a minibar that did not go cold enough and I found out on arrival.

Reading Nolene, I recognised more of that than I expected to.

My experience is that the practical side is solved and well documented and the social side is the part that still catches me out.

Thirteen hours in the air and the whole thing came down to a cool bag and a printed letter, and both of those took ten minutes to arrange.
