Two years in at 24 and what I would tell myself — putting it in its own thread so it does not get lost in the check-in.

Practical question, and possibly a silly one.

The arrangements are the hard bit for me. Nothing medical has been difficult; the organising has been relentless.

I have a specific situation coming up and I would like to plan for it properly rather than improvising on the day, which is what I did last time.

My household has adjusted to about half of this and the other half is causing small daily friction that I have not known how to raise.

Thanks in advance. Practical detail welcome, however dull — the duller the better, honestly.

The cost conversation with my prescriber produced two options I had not known about, and I had put off asking for a year.

What I underestimated was how much of this is admin, and how badly my chaotic twenties are suited to admin.

Facilitator note: nothing in this circle is medical advice and the practical arrangements still need agreeing with whoever prescribes for you.

Marking that I am here, in case that counts for anything today.

Reading Tobin, I recognised more of that than I expected to.

My honest report is that I am doing well, that it has been mostly boring, and that the boring part is the part I value.

The comparison with people my age online was actively harmful for me and I stopped reading any of it about a year ago.

I would gently say that if your relationship with eating has a difficult history, that is worth telling whoever is prescribing.

Osman — yes, and the bit that took me longest to accept was the next part.

Somebody in this circle said the horizon is long and the decision is revisable, and that combination is what makes it manageable for me.

Money is the whole constraint for me and it shapes every decision I make about this.

Coming back to what Nazneen wrote further up, because it is the bit I keep thinking about.

I asked my prescriber directly about the long term and she was honest that the data does not go that far, and I would rather have that than reassurance.

Agreed, and I have nothing to add to it.

Something practical: everything I need fits in a small bag because I have lived in four places since starting.

What Tilda described happened to me too, in a slightly different order.

My experience of appointments improved enormously once I stopped trying to sound older and more organised than I am.

What I would say to somebody my age starting is to find one adult who knows. Any adult. It makes a difference.

I moved cities and had to rebuild every arrangement, which took three months, and I would plan for that if I moved again.

Reading Aiko, I recognised more of that than I expected to.

What I found is that being taken seriously at my age required me to be very organised in appointments, more than an older person would need to be.

My prescriber and I have a plan that gets reviewed every six months, and having it be revisable rather than fixed suits my life.

Something that helped was writing down why I started, because at eighteen months I could not remember what my reasoning had been.

What helped was one friend who knows everything, which took me eight months to arrange and has been worth all of it.

Building on what Tobin wrote rather than answering the original question.

The thing I would flag to anybody young here is that the internet is very loud on this subject and most of it is selling something.

9

Gently noticing that we have drifted from the original question into a related one. Both are worth having and only one was asked.

Nothing here is medical advice and at this age the long-term questions are genuinely open, and anybody who tells you otherwise is guessing.
