Appetite at 74 and eating enough — putting it in its own thread so it does not get lost in the check-in.

Practical question, and possibly a silly one.

My household has adjusted to about half of this and the other half is causing small daily friction that I have not known how to raise.

I nearly did not ask because it sounds trivial written down, and it has been the most persistent difficulty of the last six months.

I would like to know what other people say when asked, because my current answer is too long and invites more questions.

Thank you. This circle has solved four practical problems for me already and I am hoping for a fifth.

What I found is that the guidance assumes a body with more margin, and going slowly was not caution, it was the sensible plan.

My medication list is long and getting a proper review of all of it together was the most useful appointment of the last three years.

Adding a marker so it does not get lost: the most practical sentence in a thread like this is almost never the first one, and somebody arriving late will scroll straight past it.

Ren, thank you for that. It gives me somewhere to start from.

Bone health was my first question and I had to ask for it. It was not offered and it was entirely reasonable to want.

Building on what Lucas wrote rather than answering the original question.

Being taken seriously was the first hurdle. I had two appointments where my age was treated as the whole of the answer.

Coming back at two years to say it has been uneventful, that my mobility is better than it was, and that I am glad I asked rather than assuming I was too old.

Nothing here is medical advice, and at my stage the interactions with everything else genuinely need somebody qualified looking at the whole list.

What helped most was a physiotherapist who gave me a specific programme rather than a general encouragement to be active.

Gently disagreeing with Brim, or rather adding the other half of it.

My hearing and my eyesight mean appointments are harder work, and asking for things in writing has solved most of that.

Something I did not expect was how much better my knees have been, which was not what I was aiming at and is what I most appreciate.

Strength work has mattered more to me at this stage than anything else, and everybody I have spoken to has said the same.

Nothing to add except that I am glad this thread exists.

I asked directly what the evidence looked like for people my age and got an honest answer about how thin it is, and I respected that.

Something practical: I take a written list of everything I take to every appointment, because nobody's system has it right.

Adding a name to the list of people this helped.

Speaking as a facilitator: the person who asked wanted company for a difficult week rather than a plan, and the thread has given both, in that order.

Picking up Olly’s point rather than starting a new one.

The thing I would say to somebody at my stage is that going slowly is not being timid, it is being sensible about a body with a longer history.
